Inger ???datter

Edvard Skovgaard in "1000 Aner . . ." states that Søren Laursen Borringholm (c.1646-1717) is probably the son of Laurids Christensen Borringholm (1600-April 29, 1671) and Inger Larsdatter Weile. LarsJensen Weile (Vejle) was a student at Roskilde in 1630. Parish clergyman for Østermarie starting in 1639. According to Edvard Skovgaard's book"1000 Aner til en Skovgårdsslægt", Lars Weile died at Brændegård some time after 1671; the book "En almindelig dansk Præstehistorie", by SV. Wiberg(1870, Odense), states he died 1665 or 1666.

The Mormon's International Genealogy Index also shows him as the son of Laurits Christensen Borringholm (c.1619-1671) and Inger (1623-February16, 1694) , who were married in 1645. It also shows two other children:Ludvig Lauritsen (born 1648) and Jeremias Lauritsen (born 1650).

However, as can be seen in the following probate record Inger is not the mother of Søren Laursen Borringholm, or his sisters Birgitte Laursdatter(born circa 1653) and Bendte Laursdatter (born circa 1656).

From the Åker-Åkirkeby kirkebog:
1671: Communicantes, 29 Apr. døde Hl. Lars Christensen i Østermarie Sogn.

1700: Communicantes, 15 May haver Søren Myre en velholden mand iGudhiem, hængt sig self i Gudhiems Kirke over Loftet.
(Translation of above: May 15th had Søren Myre, a prosperous man i Gudhjem, hanged himself i Gudhjem's Church above the loft.)

From the Østermarie kirkebog:

Note: The above probate states that "Vel Edle Hr. Capitain Hans KoefoedHansøn" lived and died at "Myhre gaarden den 9 Jord Ejendoms gaardbeligende udi Nylarsker Sogn"; however, the 9 Slg. in Nylars is one ofthe Strandby farms (later known as Lille Strandbygård), and we know thatHans Aksel Hansen Kofoed sold Store Myregård (which is the 2 Vdg. and10 Slg. in Nylars parish) to his son Peder Hansen Kofoed on August 29,1725 - four years before his death.

From the Nylars kirkebog:
April 15, 1737: Sep. den 15 April, blef Capitain Hans Kofods enchebegrafven 82 aar gammel.

Note: Also known as Hans Aksel Hansen Kofoed, however I have not beenable to find any documention from his lifetime in which he is referred toas "Hans Aksel". It seems probable that since Hans is such a common namethat at some later date, in order to distinguish him from other HansKofoeds, someone added the diminutive form (Aksel/Axel) of his mother'spatronymic (Absalon) to his name. - Norman Lee Madsen, August 24, 2002.

Hans Kofoed Pedersen

1 _FA1
2 PLAC Middleclass Citizen (Borger)
1 MISC Alderman (Rådmand) for Rønne

The swedish King Karl Gustav X ordered his forces, headed by GeneralWrangel, to invaded Jylland from the south early in 1658. They tookFredriksodde fortress and from there marched across the ice (anunprecedented feat, possible only because of the unusual cold) to theisland of Fyn, and hence on to Lolland and then Sjælland. That meantthat København was open to attack; which forced the Danish government tosue for peace, and in the resulting "Peace of Roskilde" (February 1658)Denmark lost its provinces Skåne (Scania) and Blekinge, the district ofBohus, Trondheim (in Norge/Norway), and the island of Bornholm.

As the sea-ice prevented any communication with Bornholm, no one thereknew of this incredible turn of events. Not until April 16, when the icebroke and a fishing-boat from Skåne brought the news did the Bornholmersrealize that they, without being asked, had been made Swedish by thestroke of a feather-quill! On April 29 the new Swedish Colonel (Oberst)& Commandant, Johan Printzensköld, landed with 120 Musketeers and beganexploring their new province; all the while preparing the Bornholmers fortheir new nationality.

By May 18, 1658, delegates had been chosen to make a journey to Malmö andstand before Corfits Ulfeld and swear allegiance to the Swedish King. The delegates included Hans (Pedersen) Kofoed and his cousins: MadsKofoed Madsen (c.1616-before 1665) of Eskesgård, Hans Kofoed Olufsen(1625-1694) of Blykobbegård, and Peder Kofoed Madsen (c.1622-1688) ofSvaneke.

When the Swedes, despite the recently signed peace treaty, renewed theirattach on Denmark a group of Bornholmer decided that now was the bestchance for rebellion. Due to their quick and decisive actions onDecember 8, 1658, they succeeded - for more detailed information on theuprising see the entry for Hans Kofoed's brother Jens Pedersen Kofoed(1628-1691). After the rebellion Hans Pedersen Kofoed was instrumentalin the writing, and was a co-signer, of Bornholm's declaration offidelity to Denmark, which was sent to King Frederik III on January 19,1659 after the uprising against Sverige/Sweden.

Bornholm genealogist and historian M.K. Zarthmann tells in his book"Rønne City and Citizen" (1927), that Hans Pedersen Kofoed is mentionedin 1658 as a customs-officer (tolder) and alderman (rådmand) in Rønne, and in 1673 as mayor (borgmester). Further, Hans Kofoed was the firstmayor appointed by the now "Absolute Monarch" since November 23, 1670.Up to that time there had long been great discontent with the earlierself-appointed alderman-governmet, which consisting of the city'sproperty-owners and ship-owners.

Unfortunately, Hans Kofoed did not live up to expectations, for onDecember 4, 1672, a judgement was handed down on him by Bornholm's UpperHouse of Parliament ". . . for voldelig retskrænkelse at stande i Kongensnaade og unaade" (. . . for puposely violating the law (he) stands beforethe King's clemency and disfavour)! The Supreme Court allowed him onJuly 17, 1673, release to ". . . afbøde det stedfundne Retsbrud, gjøreLandsdommeren en Afbøn, og udrede Sagsomkostninger, Kost og Tæring" (. .. remedy the Breach of the Law, render the Chief Justice a Plea, and givepayment of Expenses, Wages and Consumption). In spite of all this, hedid not lose his mayorial office, but rather occupied it until his deathsometime between 1673 and 1678.

From Bornholm's Militia Register for 1678:
Rønne Købstad, Tienste Drenge: Mette Hanss Kofods. . . 1 Dreng.

From Rønne's Kirkeregnskaber 1684-1747:
Liig Penge 1689: 19 dito (Febr. 1690) for Mette sahl. Hans Koefoeds. . .3 Dr.

From Rønne's Kirkeregnskab, 1684-1747:
1691: Dend 19 December for Kongl. Majsts. Ambtsforwalter sal. AndersWogensens lig, som er efter for Eening, med sal. Borgem. Hans Koefoedzarfuinger blef lagt i deris grafsted i Kirchen, er til Kirchen betalt. .. 12 Sldr.

On the previous losses of Danish territories during the lifetime of HansPedersen Kofoed:
The Swedes had declared war on Denmark in 1643, invaded Jylland and Skåneand on June 29, 1644 defeated the Danish fleet. In the resulting "Treatyof Brömsebro" of 1645, Denmark ceded to Sverige/Sweden the provincesJämtland and Härjedalen, the islands Ösel and Gotland, and the provinceHalland - the latter for thirty years (however, it was never returned). The old territory of Skåne now comprises the counties (läns) of Malmöhusand Kristianstad.
