1 MISC Lousgård, 15 Slg. Østerlars, Bornholm
Wefst (aka Vevst) Pedersen lived at one of the Hollænder farms(specifically 29 Slg.) in Olsker parish, which is made of two farmssouth of the fishing village of Tejn: the 28' and 29 Slg.
According to the probate record for his mother Anna Larsdatter's death,Wefst had pre-desceased his mother. From his marriage to KirstinePedersdatter there were seven children. An inheritance decision madepreviously on October 22, 1728 by an eight-man jury, gave the right toMaegård - after the death of Anna Larsdatter - to her son from her firstmarriage, Wefst Pedersen.
However, since Wefst Pedersen had already died, eventually (around 1775)the right of ownership went to his youngest son Wefst Pedersen, at thetime four years old - who had been given his deceased father's name, afairly common practice if a man dies before his son is born. The youngWefst's mother Kirstine Pedersdatter was given the right to live on thefarm for the rest of her life. It seems that Maegård was in a bad stateand was estimated to be worth 500 Silverdalers.

From the 1787 census of Olsker parish:
3 Slg.: Lars Hansen, Husbond, 42, married, Bonde og beboere; KirstinaPedersdatter, Madmoder, 52, married. Wife's children from her firstmarriage: Inger Vevstisdatter, 24, unmarried; Kirstina Vevstisdatter,18, unmarried; Karen Vevstisdatter, 20, unmarried; Vevst Pedersen, 16.Their children: Seine Kirstina Larsdatter, 15; Hans Larsen, 12.This database researched and compiled by Norman Lee Madsen, Toronto,Ontario, copyright 2006.
Wefst Pedersen was given his father's name (as opposed to being namedWefst Wefstsen) to honour his father, who had died before his son'sbirth. It was not uncommon that if a son was born after a man's deaththat the child received his father's name as his own. He was theinheritor for Maegård, 3 Slg. Olsker parish after his father's death, asit is Bornholm's inheritance law that the youngest son inherits the rightto the family farm.
